Flame Distribution has signed an international distribution deal with Canadian producer Yellow Bear Studios to represent a new fun-meets-science kids series ahead of Kidscreen Summit.
Does It Fart? (10 x 4 min) investigates and compares all the amazing creatures in our world who pass gas, by bringing together science, entertainment and humour.
Based on the #DoesItFart? hashtag that went viral in 2016, Does It Fart? is a science kids show that sets out in each episode to discover which animals fart, the biology behind their breaking of wind, and what effect — if any — their flatulence has on the environment and other species. Kids get up close and personal with a wide range of creatures, including termites, lemurs, hippos and parrots.
The show was commissioned by CBC in Canada and produced by Yellow Bear Studios with the participation of the Bell Fund. The programme has been nominated for a Kidscreen Award in the Best Web Original Series category. Winners will be announced at a special presentation event to be held during Kidscreen Summit in Miami on Tuesday 12th February.
“Does it Fart? has the unique distinction of providing a clever and humorous way into the world of animal facts and science, through a subject matter that is ultimately age agnostic : farts.” says Yellow Bear Studios President and Executive Producer Ryan Lussing. “Audiences are responding to our exciting cast, incredible animals and the amazing facts they’re learning in each episode.”
Phil Barnsdall-Thompson, VP Acquisitions UK, Europe & North America at Flame Distribution, added: "This is a really special series which is why we are thrilled to be working with the team at Yellow Bear to bring this to a wider international audience.”
Both Ryan Lussing and Phil Barnsdall-Thompson will be attending this year’s Kidscreen to meet international broadcasters and other co-production partners.
