Great Barrier Reef - Sail Into Paradise
The half-hour program titled 'Great Barrier Reef - Sail into Paradise' was filmed in August by Sydney-based crew RJ Media and will be presented by well-known television host Adam Digby.
Executive producer Richard Scotts said the program, which would also be broadcast on Fox Sports, had been accepted as in-flight entertainment by at least two international airlines and was distributed internationally about four weeks ago.
"It's gone into about 41 countries so far - we knew it would have legs but we've been pleasantly surprised with how well it's done," he said.
The feature highlights some of the region's most popular tours, bars and hotspots as well as all the sailing action and social highlights from the 25th anniversary of Airlie Beach Race Week from August 8-15.
A number of locals and tourism operators were interviewed for the program, including Whitsunday Sailing Club President Jim Hayes.
As the spokesperson for Airlie Beach Race Week, Mr Hayes said the sailing club was delighted to work with Tourism and Events Queensland to bring the region into the spotlight through the making of this documentary.
"We hope those who see the episode decide to come to Airlie Beach for their next holiday," he said.
